Why Surrogacy

We're Josh and Dean from Sydney, Australia and living in London, England at the moment.

We've known we wanted to have a family since we met over 15 years ago. We were always agnostic about how we would create our family, either through adoption or surrogacy.

We first looked at adoption, as the idea of helping a child and family who needed support and love was a strong factor for us. In Australia, because of past historical injustices with our Indigenous stolen generation, unknown adoption is very rare and is not really an option. Being gay, international adoption also isn't a possibility. We looked into adoption in the UK, but as we are planning to return to Australia, it also isn't viable.

This left us with surrogacy as the only real avenue for us to start a family. We began looking at all the countries that allowed surrogacy and Canada came out on top with a system that looked after women and protected the children throughout the process.

Dean and I have a really strong affinity with Canada. Dean has family in Ontario and British Columbia and Josh lived in Vancouver when he was younger.
